Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Community

Compassion & Choices works to help all people realize an end-of-life journey according to their values and priorities. We began our outreach efforts in 2017 to address racial disparities in quality end-of-life care and support for end-of-life planning including for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities.

Community Spotlight

In this new video, Dr. Trina Nahm-Mijo reflects on her life in Hawai‘i and the experiences that have shaped her perspective on the end of life—including being present for both of her parents’ deaths. As a member of the Compassion & Choices Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Leadership Council, she has been active in efforts to expand access to practical end-of-life information and resources in her community.

Compassion & Choices is proud to offer a host of tools and resources to help you and your loved ones “finish strong” by planning for an end-of-life experience that matches the life you’ve enjoyed – defined by love, purpose and agency.

Motivated by the impact of racism, inequity and disparities in end-of-life care, we are connecting with people nationwide to spread the word about the importance of end-of-life care planning and accessing quality end-of-life care.

I'm so grateful that my work with Compassion & Choices provides me with the resources to improve my personal life and to allow me to think about the resources that are out there for families like my own who want to prepare for the end of life.
