Status of Medical Aid in Dying

Tennessee introduced HB 1710 for the 2024 session, which would authorize medical aid in dying. It has been assigned to the Population Health Subcommittee.

TN SB 2258, also introduced for this session, passed its first consideration.

Faced with a terminal diagnosis, Tennessee residents deserve the full range of options for care at the end of life, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying allows terminally ill adults to get a prescription they can take to end their life peacefully.
